Product Detail

Powerex, Taiwan Model: LH Series 5 kV AC Puncture/Insulation Tester

  • Puncture Tester: Measures the puncture strength of materials like rubber or plastic film by recording pressure levels at penetration.
  • Insulation Tester: Measures insulation resistance (IR) of materials, identifying faults to prevent current leakage and hazards.
  • Both testers help ensure the safe operation of systems by identifying flaws in equipment.
  • Regular testing is advised to monitor insulation decay, especially in rough environments.

The Puncture Tester and the insulation tester are machines that measure a given material?s puncture and insulation quality. The puncture tester measures the puncture strength by using a foreign object to poke at the given material (usually a rubber or plastic film). The pressing force gradually amplifies until the object fully penetrates the film. During the test, a probe records the pressure level at which the probe breaches the film to determine the puncture strength of the material. Despite the puncturing force, the sharpness of the foreign object also controls the test result Such a test is also called the puncture strength test or puncture resistance test.   The Insulation Tester, on the other hand, measures the insulation resistance (IR) of materials, such as wires and conductors. The IR quality has been considered one of the safety standards of electrical components because testing the total insulation resistance helps to identify damaged insulation. Any fault in the insulation may lead to current leakage and further result in unwanted hazards. It is advised to conduct the insulation test periodically because the insulation decays through time, especially in rough working environments. Powerex’s puncture and insulation testers identify any flaws in your equipment to ensure the safe operation of the system.
